The Gmina Godkowo is a rural community in Elbląg County of Warmia and Mazury in Poland . Its seat is the village of the same name ( German Göttchendorf ) with about 260 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the northwest of the voivodeship. The seat of the Powiat, the independent city of Elbląg (Elbing) is located 30 kilometers northwest. Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Wilczęta in the north, Orneta in the east, Miłakowo in the southeast, Morąg in the south and Pasłęk in the west.
The community has an area of 166.7 km², 71 percent of which is used for agriculture and 20 percent for forestry. There are a number of small lakes on their territory. The Zimnochy has an area of 23 hectares . The river Wąska (Weeske) runs through the west of the municipality. The highest point is the Czubatka with 169 m npm
history
The rural community was newly formed in 1973 from various gromadas . Her predecessor was the Gmina Dobry . The area belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship from 1946 to 1975 and then to the Elbląg Voivodeship until 1998 . On January 1, 1999, the municipality came to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship and the expanded Powiat Elbląski.
In the 2015–2018 term of office, 14 of the 22 village mayors were women.

traffic
The most important road is the voivodship road DW513 , which leads from Pasłęk (Prussian Holland) via Orneta (Wormditt) to Lidzbark Warmiński (Heilsberg) .
The Pasłęk station in the neighboring municipality stop long-distance trains on the Olsztyn – Bogaczewo – Elbląg railway line .
The nearest international airport is Gdansk .
