Greivis Vásquez (born January 16, 1987 in Caracas , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan basketball player. Most recently, the Guard played in the NBA for the Brooklyn Nets .

From 2006 to 2010 Vásquez played for the University of Maryland . After three successful years, he signed up for the 2009 NBA draft , but decided, despite good prospects, to do another year for his college. In his senior season, he was named Player of the Year in the Atlantic Coast Conference and received the Bob Cousy Award for best point guard in college basketball .

After these honors, he signed up for the 2010 NBA Draft and was selected in 28th place by the Memphis Grizzlies . In his rookie season, he played an average of 12.3 minutes in 70 matches, with 3.6 points and 2.2 assists . With the Grizzlies he reached the second round of the playoffs and failed there 3: 4 to the Oklahoma City Thunder . After the season, Vásquez was transferred to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for Quincy Pondexter .

On February 8, 2013, Vásquez scored the first triple-double of his career in the game against the Atlanta Hawks .

On July 10, 2013 Vásquez moved to the Sacramento Kings . As part of that transfer, Terrel Harris and Robin Lopez joined the Portland Trail Blazers from New Orleans , Jeff Withey came to New Orleans from Portland, Tyreke Evans left the Sacramento Kings for New Orleans, and the Kings received two second round picks and cash from Portland.

Vasquez ran for the Kings until November 2013. He was then transferred to the Toronto Raptors in a trade . With the Raptors, he was the backup for All-Star Kyle Lowry for two years . In June 2015 he was transferred to the Milwaukee Bucks . In the summer of 2016 he signed with the Brooklyn Nets , which released him after three league games.
