Gretchen Corbett

Gretchen Hoyt Corbett (born August 13, 1945 in Camp Sherman , Oregon ) is an American film, television and theater actress . She played in films such as Out of It , Horror for Jessica , PSI Factor , King Kobra and Bucksville . She became internationally known, especially in the mid-1970s, through the crime series Detective Rockford - a call is enough , in which she played the lawyer Beth Davenport.

life and career

Corbett was born in 1945 to Henry Ladd, Jr. and Katherine Minahen (Coney) Corbett at Camp Sherman, Oregon. In the late 1960s, Corbett studied drama at Carnegie Mellon University (formerly Pittsburgh Carnegie Tech). She made her acting debut as Desdemona at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland in the play Othello . She then worked in various regional theaters, including the Long Wharf Theater, the Berkshire Theater Festival, the Eugene O'Neill Festival, Seattle Repertory Theater and the Repertory Theater of New Orleans. After moving to New York, she also appeared on Broadway .

She played Corbett's first film role in Paul Williams' comedy Out of It in 1969, alongside actors such as Barry Gordon and Jon Voight . She had other parts on the screen in 1971 in the horror film Horror for Jessica by director John D. Hancock, in 1980 in the science fiction film PSI Factor alongside Peter Mark Richman, in 1981 in Bob Claver's horror film King Kobra alongside Fritz Weaver or 2011 in Chel White's thriller Bucksville .

Since the late 1960s she was also a busy actress in many American television films and series such as Love Is a Many Splendored Thing (1967), Kojak - Einsatz in Manhattan (1973), The Boss (1974), Smoking Colts (1974) , Hawaii Five-Zero (1975), Emergency Call California (1975-1976), The Twos with a Twist (1976), Barnaby Jones (1978), Magnum (1981-1983), Trapper John, MD (1982), Simon & Simon (1985), Murder Is Her Hobby (1986), 21 Jump Street - Crime Scene Classroom (1987), Hunter (1990) or Portlandia (2013–2015).

She played more complex TV roles as the lawyer Beth Davenport from 1974 to 1978 in 33 episodes of the crime series Detective Rockford - a call is enough at the side of James Garner . In the mid to late 1990s, she also made several guest roles in her part as a lawyer in several individual Rockford television films.

Gretchen Corbett is the mother of actress Winslow Corbett (* 1979).
