Banacek is a full-length American crime series starring George Peppard in the title role as a private detective in Boston . The total of seventeen episodes were broadcast from 1972 to 1974 as part of the NBC Mystery Movie, initially alternating with the early-canceled series Cool Million and Madigan .

Thomas Banacek, an American of Polish descent, works as an independent private investigator for the Boston insurance company Casualty Company , for which he handles art theft cases . His success and the associated premium of 10% of the insured value not allow him only a life of luxury in the exclusive district of Beacon Hill , but also the maintenance of the 1941 Packard Clipper - Oldtimers , he by his chauffeur can be controlled Jay Drury.
