economy

The main economic activity is the agricultural sector. This sector has seen significant changes in land use, adding to the areas irrigated between 1960 and 1986 that are currently being parceled out due to the new irrigation canal that traverses the region. Livestock is also gaining importance within the agricultural sector, although not to the same extent as agriculture. The industrial sector is not very developed, although it has been growing gradually in recent years.
