Villanueva del Fresno is a Spanish municipality (municipio) in the province of Badajoz in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura . In 2016, the municipality had 3,464 inhabitants on an area of ​​360.2 km².

location

The municipality is located around 40 km southwest of Olivenza , 64 km from the provincial capital Badajoz , 42 km west of Jerez de los Caballeros and 6 km from the border with Portugal on the Arroyo de Cúncos , which flows into the Guadiana in the Alqueva reservoir .
