Cheles is a Spanish municipality in the province of Badajoz in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura . In 2016, the municipality had 1,227 inhabitants on an area of ​​47.9 km².

location

The municipality is located about 26 km southwest of Olivenza , 50 km from the provincial capital Badajoz , 17 km west of Alconchel and 18 km northwest of Villanueva del Fresno at a short distance from the left bank of the Guadiana , through the Alqueva dam over a large area to an approximately 250 km² Reservoir is dammed and which forms the border between Spain and Portugal from the confluence of the Río Gévora to the mouth of the Arroyo de Cúncos .
