Guido Alexander Franz Friedrich Wilhelm Streit , von Streit since 1859 (born September 1, 1813 in Hildburghausen , † July 9, 1904 in Charlottenburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and honorary citizen of Spandau .

Life

Guido Alexander was the son of the Prussian major a. D. and cartographer Friedrich Wilhelm Streit (1772–1839) and his wife Amalie, née Voigt (1787–1838).

Military career

Streit joined the 28th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on September 1, 1826 . At the end of November 1827, when he was transferred to the Guard Artillery Brigade, he changed arms and graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School in 1830/32 for further training . On May 10, 1832, the brigade was aggregated as a second lieutenant and on June 8, 1834, was assigned. At the end of February 1844, he was promoted to prime lieutenant . During the March Revolution in 1848 he took part in the suppression of the street fighting in Berlin and during the campaign in Denmark in the battle near Schleswig . He was promoted to captain on November 10, 1849, and was appointed battery chief . At the same time, Streit worked from May 6, 1852 to May 19, 1854 as an artillery officer from the Spandau Fortress square . On May 1, 1858, he was appointed major and commander of the Guard Train Battalion and made à la suite of the Guard Artillery Regiment. For his services , King Friedrich Wilhelm IV raised him to the hereditary Prussian nobility on April 21, 1859 .

On June 22, 1860, Streit was transferred to the train and on October 18, 1861, on the occasion of King Wilhelm I's coronation celebrations , he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. This was followed from October 23, 1863 to April 17, 1865 as commander of the 1st division in Magdeburg Field Artillery Regiment No. 4 . Then Streit was appointed commandant of the Spandau Fortress under position à la suite of his regiment and promoted to colonel on June 18, 1865 . In this capacity he received the Order of the Red Eagle III on the occasion of the festival in January 1868 . Class with a bow and on June 18, 1869 the character as major general. On July 30, 1871, Streit was awarded the Crown Order II. Class and on January 6, 1872 made an honorary citizen of Spandau. He received the patent for his rank on January 2, 1876, before being put up for disposition on September 12, 1878 in approval of his resignation request with a pension .

In view of his long service, he was given the character of lieutenant general on September 14, 1878. He died on July 9, 1904 in Charlottenburg and was buried on July 13, 1904 in the Luisenfriedhof.

family

Streit married Marie von Faber (1817–1887) in Berlin on January 6, 1847. After her death he married Berta Metz (* 1853) in Berlin in 1891. After his death she married Major Götz von Fromberg. Quarrel's marriages remained childless, but he had named the adopted son Friedrich (Fritz) Wilhelm Elstermann von Elster von Streit.
