Guipry ( Breton : Gwipri ) is a town and commune Déléguée in the French municipality Guipry-Messac with 3,798 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . The inhabitants are called Guipryen (ne) s .
geography
Guipry is located on the Vilaine River . Guipry is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Guignen in the north, Saint-Malo-de-Phily in the northeast, Messac in the east, Langon in the south, Saint-Ganton in the southwest, Pipriac and Lieuron in the west and Lohéac in the northwest. The Messac - Guipry station ( Rennes - Redon railway line ), which was operated in 2015, is located in Messac ; Guipry himself led the former Châteaubriant – Ploërmel railway .
history
The place is first mentioned in the 7th century. The place name developed from Wicbry (710) via uuiperiaca (834) to Guicbri (913). Originally there was also a hill fort (moth) here.
The municipality of Guipry was merged with Messac to form Commune nouvelle Guipry-Messac with effect from January 1, 2016 . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Redon and the Canton of Pipriac .
