history
The name (in older maps Guttenbrunn ) comes from the little Gutenbrunnbach , and can be seen literally. The place was probably already in the 11./12. Founded in the 18th century, a second period of intensive settlement in the Mürz Valley (Langenwang and Pichlwang were probably founded before 900, Mürzzuschlag probably has Slavic roots), and shaped by its location on the road to the Semmering Pass .
When Hönigsberg began to grow rapidly as a factory settlement around the steelworks - the former Neuhammer from 1550/60, then Bleckmann Stahlwerke / Böhler-Bleckmann , today Böhler Bleche - the small town increasingly became a district of Hönigsberg. In 1940 Gutenbrunn, Zimmerdorf and Hönigsberg von Langenwang were incorporated into the city of Mürzzuschlag. Hönigsberg has been its own parish since 1962 .
1980–1985 the Semmering expressway (S6) was built south of the village.
