geography
location
The house is located in the Ahreifel in the Ahrweiler forest . Its peak rises about 4.5 km south-south-west of Ahrweiler , 3 km south of Walporzheim and 2.3 km north-west of Ramersbach , all of which are districts of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the Ahr valley , 2.7 km south-east of the municipality of Rech , 4 km south-southeast of the local community of Dernau and 2.7 km (as the crow flies ) north-northeast of the Kesselingen district of Staffel .
The Wingsbach , fed by the small Talbach , rises east of the mountain and flows north through the Hungertal and flows into the Ahr at Ahrweiler . Northwest is the source of the rear Bach , of from Beulsbach is fed to the north by the Heckental runs and Walporzheim the Ahr flows. To the south-south-west, the Ahlbach emerges from the confluence of the Ahrbach and Sannerbach, which flows south and flows into the Staffeler Bach (tributary of the Kesselinger Bach ).

The mountain height of the 506.5 m high house is sometimes only given as around 505 m , which refers to the height information of 505.2 m shown on topographical maps , which is recorded on a forest path about 45 m east of the summit. Protected areas
A part of the protected landscape area Rhein-Ahr-Eifel ( CDDA -Nr. 323834; 1980 designated; 925.86 km² ) lies on the house . Its western flank falls into the Ahrgebirge bird sanctuary (VSG no. 5507-401; 304.23 ha ).
House tower
On May 11, 1908, the observation tower Häuschen-Turm was inaugurated on the little house , which was 20 m high. In the final phase of the Second World War (1939-1945) it carried a Wehrmacht radio station , and the wooden tower was burned down in the spring of 1945. On September 30, 1956, a new tower was inaugurated, of which only remnants remain. From the viewing platform the panoramic view fell into the Eifel with the Ahrgebirge ( Ahreifel ), to Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the Ahrtal and up to the Siebengebirge and Westerwald .
Traffic and walking
North past the little house leads through the Ahr valley on federal road 267 , east from Ahrweiler to Ramersbach on state road 84 and south-west from Kesseling to Staffel on L 85, which also runs a little further east-northeast through Ramersbach. Among other things, the main hiking trail 11 ( Sinzig - Monschau ) of the Eifelverein runs over the mountain .
