history
The round village Höfgen was first mentioned in 1183, when the villagers had to pay taxes to the nunnery Jüterbog. The place was called Thumehoue in the 13th century and later Hove , before the name Höfchen and later Höfgen prevailed at the beginning of the 16th century . The place name comes from Middle Low German and describes a settlement belonging to a farm. During the Thirty Years' War the whole place burned down and was not rebuilt until 1660. Höfgen was an official village in the Zinna office . In 1841, 52 residents lived in what was then known as Höfchen .
Until 1952 Höfgen was in the district of Luckenwalde (until 1946 Jüterbog-Luckenwalde ), after the GDR district reform, the municipality belonged to the district of Jüterbog in the Potsdam district . On January 11, 1962, Höfgen was incorporated into Welsickendorf . Since the fall of the Wall and the Brandenburg district reform in December 1993, Höfgen has belonged to the Teltow-Fläming district . On December 31, 1997, the community of Welsickendorf and its districts were merged with 13 other communities to form the new community of Niederer Fläming .
