history
Riesdorf, a dead end village with a village green , was first mentioned in 1221 as Risdorp . The place name is derived from the Low German word "ris" for bushes. At that time the place belonged to the possession of the diocese of Magdeburg . In 1342 Riesdorf became a pawn property, which meant that the owners changed frequently. From 1584 the place was divided among several feudal lords, only in 1774 Riesdorf was reunited under the Lords of Rochow . In 1801 there was a forge, a village jug and a windmill in Riesdorf, and in 1838 there was an additional brick factory for the manor. Three years later the place had 147 inhabitants. The Riesdorf manor was dissolved in 1931, and the manor house that was subsequently unused was demolished in 1945.
Until 1952 Riesdorf was in the Luckenwalde district (until 1946 Jüterbog-Luckenwalde ), after which it was reclassified to the Jüterbog district in the GDR district of Potsdam . After the reunification and the Brandenburg district reform in December 1993, the Riesdorf municipality was in the Teltow-Fläming district . On December 31, 1997 Riesdorf merged with 13 other communities to form the new community of Niederer Fläming . This has been administered by the Dahme / Mark Office since January 1, 2018 .
