history

Hohengörsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1161 as Gerhardestorph . The place name is derived from the personal name "Gerhard". In 1383 the place name was hogen Gerstorp , the name addition serves to distinguish it from the neighboring Niedergörsdorf . The place was historically characterized by agriculture, which is indicated by the four-sided courtyards that are still preserved today . Hohengörsdorf belonged to the Jüterbog office , which was initially in the Archbishopric of Magdeburg and after its annexation in the Duchy of Saxony-Weißenfels . After the Congress of Vienna Hohengörsdorf came to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1817 the Jüterbog office was dissolved and Hohengörsdorf moved to the Zinna office . In 1841 the community had 128 inhabitants.

Until 1952 Hohengörsdorf belonged to the district of Luckenwalde (until 1946 Jüterbog-Luckenwalde ), after the GDR district reform the community belonged to the district of Jüterbog in the Potsdam district . After the reunification and the Brandenburg district reform in 1993, Hohengörsdorf was in the Teltow-Fläming district . On December 31, 1997 Hohengörsdorf merged with 13 other communities to form today's community of Niederer Fläming .

Attractions

  • The village church Hohengörsdorf is a late Romanesque stone block building from the early 13th century with eight-sided, slated half-timbered tower. The entrance portals and the windows of the church were later redesigned in Baroque style . Most of the furnishings date from the 18th century, including the sandstone pulpit altar by the altar builder Johann Christian Angermann from 1730. The organ was built around 1900, but is now defective.
