The Hitra cesta H5 ( Slovenian for 'expressway H5') leads from the Italian border to Koper , where it currently ends at the connection to the H6 in the direction of Portorož . The entire route will lead from Italy in the hinterland of the coast via Koper to Dragonja on the Croatian border, where it will connect to the Croatian A9 .

Current expansion

The H5 is intended to relieve the existing national road 11 in the direction of Croatia , as there are always long traffic jams , especially during the summer months. The connection to the Croatian A9 is currently still in the planning stage.
