The Hannoversche rail industry GmbH was at the beginning of the 20th century a factory for railway equipment and the construction of standard gauge - and narrow-gauge railways . The location of the main office, production and the main warehouse was Entenfangweg 12 in Hanover-Herrenhausen (today's district: Leinhausen ).

history

Hannoversche Bahnindustrie GmbH

The beginnings of the company have so far been little explored: In her dissertation on the railways and railway industry in Hanover 1835–1914 (see literature), Sabine Meschkat-Peters explained that in the address book of the city of Hanover, a rubric "Railway Entrepreneurs" was listed for the first time in 1902 and in this, together with two other companies, the Hannoversche Bahnindustrie GmbH . The company's areas of activity are detailed on a correspondence - form described by the 1908th So there was

The production also included locomotives and " Locomobiles " which - partly used - were also offered for rent .

The company's emblem was two crossed hammers within the Hannoversche Bahnindustrie GmbH Hannover script , including a Roman 1 and a double-winged spoked wheel with four jagged lightning bolts pointing down from the center as a symbol of electricity. The emblem was also used as a seal mark and, with a different text, also used by the Bahnindustrie Actiengesellschaft (see below).

The steel engraving on the heads of the correspondence forms from the period from 1904 to 1909 at the latest shows a water tower in the background under the title "Montage" , which is likely that of Louis Eilers Stahlbau, who also produces on Entenfangweg , and - as is often the case on engravings with factory views around the turn of the 20th century - should make it easier for the observer to find their way around by means of striking eye-catchers.

The GmbH operated a branch office in Frankfurt-Eschersheim and opened an office in Berlin in 1902 , Hannoversche Strasse 2 , later in Alt-Moabit 123.

In an application letter to the Colberger Sprudel GmbH in Coburg from 1908

In the same letter, the Hanoverian railway industry disclosed business contacts with the government building master Feddersen in Erfurt as well as the representation of own interests by the government building master Vestner .

The Bahnindustrie Actiengesellschaft was formed from the Hannoversche Bahnindustrie GmbH in early 1909 .

Share of the Bahnindustrie AG Hanover of 20 February 1909 for more than 1,000 marks

The Bahnindustrie AG Hannover emerged from the Hannoversche Bahnindustrie GmbH (see above) in early 1909 . The founding shares of 1,000 marks each and a circulation of 1,700 copies show, among other things, the date “20. February 1909 ”and the names of the supervisory board and the management board . The shares were apparently printed by A. Molling & Comp. in Hannover.

The comparison of a form for the letter from November 19, 1910 to the Kaiseroda union in Tiefenort shows - in addition to a changed engraving and other images in the letterhead, such as a bird's eye view of the company premises and its surroundings - in particular the preprinted additions to the left of the variable to be labeled Text field. Locomotives and excavators in red as well as superstructure tools have now been added - under the “Factory Department” . The " Code Staudt & Hundius" under the specified bank accounts are the first evidence for the account - holder .

By 1910 at the latest, the following branch offices were set up at home and abroad, some of which were first addresses:

"After 1914" - the beginning of the First World War - according to the address book of the city of Hanover, the German Prometheus-Hohl-Rost AG produced gratings and wagons on the site at Entenfangweg 12 . The company was followed there by Prometheus-Werke, Gesellschaft für Apparatebau and Böttcher & Co. , which was given up in 1985.

The three-page typewriter dated December 19, 1908 shows somewhat indistinct images, despite a scan of the original in a much higher resolution, as the bluish ink of the typewriter shows through from the back to the title page.
