Hans Klering

Hans Karl Klering (born Scharnagl; born November 8, 1906 in Berlin ; † October 30, 1988 in East Berlin ) was a German actor , director , speaker , graphic artist and author . He was a founding member of DEFA , one of its directors and chairman of the board.

life and work

Klering was the son of a transport worker and a seamstress. From 1921 to 1924 he completed an apprenticeship as a commercial assistant in a feed store, then was initially unemployed and later worked as a dock worker and poster painter. In 1926 he joined the KPD . In Cologne and Berlin he was a member of agitprop groups such as Rote Raketen , Blaue Blousen and Kolonne Links . In 1931 he went to the Soviet Union and did not return to Germany until 1945.

In 1946 he was one of the founders of DEFA as a license holder and until 1950 its artistic director and chairman of the administrative board.

Since 1950 he played smaller roles in numerous DEFA films. In 1969, for example, he played a supporting role as Mitch Chandler in the DEFA Indian film Deadly Error .

Hans Klering received numerous state awards, including the gold medal for the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1981 and the Karl Marx Order in 1986 . He was on the Central Cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde in the graves plant for the victims and persecuted by the Nazi regime buried.

His wife Elsa Korén and their daughters Helga and Juliane were or are also actors.

Pawel Klering (born March 3, 1946), the son of Hans Klering from his marriage to Antonia Nizkowskaja, a doctor of biophysics, lives with his family in Berlin. Hans Klering's granddaughters, Anna and Anastasia Klering, work as set and costume designers at the Babelsberg film studio .
