Hans Krumpper (also: Krumper or Krumpter) (* around 1570 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria , † 7 to 14 May 1634 in Munich ) is a German was sculptors , plasterers , altar builder , architect and art intendant of the Bavarian Dukes William V and Maximilian I.

Krumpper was a student of Hubert Gerhard and then spent some time in Venice. From 1584 he worked for the Bavarian court, where he succeeded Friedrich Sustris in 1599 and from 1609 held the position of court sculptor. As such, he developed the independent early Baroque Bavarian sculpture from the Dutch-Italian mannerism . His most important preserved works in Munich include the Maximilian Residence , especially its stucco furnishings and the Patrona Boiariae on the facade on Residenzstrasse . Also to be mentioned are the Wittelsbacherbrunnen in the fountain courtyard of the residence, the Diana temple in the Munich court garden , the tomb ( epitaph ) for Duke Ferdinand of Bavaria , around 1610, which is in the Heilig-Geist-Kirche next to the main entrance in the vestibule, and also the Goblet-like marble base for the baptismal font in St. Peter in the south chapel (1620), then the overbuilding of the tomb of Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria in the Frauenkirche , completed in 1622 , as well as an epitaph in the All Saints Church . His main work is the Paulanerkirche in Munich, built between 1621 and 1623 , which was demolished in 1902. At the same time he was also working on plans for the reconstruction of the Freising Cathedral , which, however, was not carried out. From 1624 to 1626, a new nave was built for the Catholic parish church of St. Jakob in Dachau according to the plans of Hans Krumpper . The new building of the parish church of the Assumption of Mary in his native Weilheim, built in 1624/31, is also his work.
