Hans Müller-Westernhagen

Hans Müller-Westernhagen (born December 24, 1918 in Cologne , † December 18, 1963 in Düsseldorf ) was a German actor . He was the father of the singer Marius Müller-Westernhagen .

Life

Hans Müller-Westernhagen played a. a. in the ensemble of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in Gustaf Gründgens ' time. During this time he also worked on the recordings of an audio version of the famous Düsseldorf Gründgens staging of the play Faust I with that 1954 was the first complete recording of an extended literary work for Deutsche Grammophon on three talk plates appeared and today like the birth of the German audio book is called . The Faust recording with Müller-Westernhagen, Paul Hartmann and Gründgens became a great public success and is still being reissued - now as a double CD - again and again.

The versatile Müller-Westernhagen also made trips to film, for example in 1956 he directed the film Das Dorf in der Heide , after having previously gained experience in film as an actor (for example, Der Bundesschützen , 1951). In the film adaptation of Peterchens Mondfahrt (director: Gerhard F. Hering ) he played the Milky Way man.

In 1962, Westernhagen spoke for WDR radio in Eisblumen , a radio play by Rainer Puchert and directed by Friedhelm Ortmann .

At the age of 44, Hans Müller-Westernhagen, who was alcoholic and suffered from depression , died in Düsseldorf. His grave is in the Heerdter cemetery .
