In the course of the Regensburg party donation scandal , it became known in October 2016 that the Regensburg public prosecutor had initiated preliminary investigations against the former mayor. The background to this was a consulting contract with a building contractor and his daughter buying a house from the same. The public prosecutor's office in Regensburg investigated on suspicion of bribery. In August 2019, she closed an investigation against Schaidinger. After the public prosecutor's office dropped further proceedings against him in April 2020, no further proceedings are pending.
