Haus Füchten is a manor house in Ense in the Sauerland . The two-storey house with its farm buildings is located east of the Ruhr near the district of Hünningen .

The castle that was then located in this place , possibly on the banks of the Ruhr (Füchten = Feuchte), was first mentioned in 1298 as curtis de Vuchtene , when the fiefdom was given to the knight Goswin von Soest. Caspar Diedrich von Droste zu Erwitte had the castle demolished around 1700 and a castle built on the mountainside. In 1726 Ernst Dietrich Anton von Droste zu Füchten expanded the building with a chapel wing.

In 1834 the landlord and heir salter zu Werl Josef Caspar von Mellin (born December 10, 1765 in Werl, † February 5, 1837 in Soest) acquired Füchten. Mellin was the founder of the Mellin Foundation. This was brought into being in 1860 after his and the death of his wife Freiin Sophie von Fürstenberg. Mellin left his entire fortune to the private foundation for charitable purposes, which set up an agriculture school on the premises of the Füchten house. Poor boys and orphans could be trained to become arable farmers and foresters . After a few years the school had to be closed again in 1903 due to poor transport connections. In the mid-1980s, the foundation sold the property to a private person.

With the construction of the A 445 motorway between Wickede (Ruhr) and Neheim-Arnsberg, areas of the property with old trees and graves were cut through in 1987 .

A baroque bridge from 1698 leads to the entrance to the main house with its coat of arms and its two-flight flight of stairs . Concerts and other cultural events take place in the large hall on the first floor, which is richly decorated with figural and ornamental stucco . The castle chapel can be used for church services and weddings. On the Sunday after Corpus Christi, the annual Füchtener procession has been taking place from Bremen (now Ense-Bremen) to the house for about 150 years .
