The Havelbus Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (HVG) is a municipal transport company in the state of Brandenburg with headquarters in Nauen . The company is wholly owned by the Havelland district and is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association (VBB).

The Havelbus Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH was founded on July 1st, 1992, when the regional bus service was spun off from ViP .

In 2012, the company celebrated its 20th anniversary and repeatedly surprised its passengers with small gifts.

At times, Havelbus was the largest transport company in Brandenburg. 1 January 2015 the company, which at that time was the districts Havelland and Potsdam-Mittelmark belonged divided. Today's Havelbus was created, based in Nauen, which continues the bus service between Rathenow , Nauen and Falkensee . In Potsdam-Mittelmark, the Beelitzer Verkehrs- und Servicegesellschaft mbH took over bus transport, which was to merge with the Verkehrsgesellschaft Belzig on January 1, 2017 and form regiobus Potsdam Mittelmark GmbH . In the course of this division, the Havelland district received 58% and the Potsdam-Mittelmark district 42% of the business assets of the "old" Havelbus.

In 2006, Havelbus was the first Brandenburg transport company to introduce buses from the Polish manufacturer Solaris ; Since the division on January 1, 2015, these belong to regiobus Potsdam Mittelmark GmbH . Havelbus owns vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530 N (solo bus), G (articulated bus), NÜ (low-floor intercity bus), among others . Havelbus also has MAN and Setra vehicles . Most of the buses come from EvoBus , which manufactures buses under the name of Mercedes-Benz. At the end of 2012, the first two "Avenue LF" buses from the Turkish manufacturer Temsa were added to the fleet, but these were only used for a short time and returned to Temsa after several years of downtime.

In total, Havelbus has 111 modern and mostly barrier-free vehicles. Some exceptions are not low-floor buses and are therefore not suitable for wheelchair users (e.g. the Setra 400 series buses that are sometimes used).

According to Havelbus, only vehicles with air conditioning have been procured since 2000 .

From 2010 to mid-2014 it was possible to buy tickets on the buses with the EC card. This had to be discontinued due to the changeover to the SEPA procedure. Since 2020, in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, (contactless) payment with giro, debit or credit cards has been possible again.
