The Heidensee is located in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state capital Schwerin . The size is 0.24 km², the bank is 4382 meters long. There are navigable connections to the Ziegelsee via the Werder Canal and to Schwerin Inner Lake via the Stangengraben. The Heidensee is one of the federal waterways .

The Heidensee borders the northern Schwerin district of Werdervorstadt and lies west of the Schwerin Inner Lake not far from the federal highway 104 . On the banks there are boathouses, a water sports facility, allotment gardens and reed, alder and broken willow areas.
