Heiko Jung (drummer)

Heiko Jung (born December 17, 1971 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia ) is a German drummer in the genres of jazz , rock and pop music .

Live and act

Jung grew up in his hometown. From the age of seven he received piano and drum lessons. He studied classical percussion at the Liszt School of Music Weimar and also took lessons from Ari Hoenig , Jeff Hamilton , Jeff Hirshfield , John Marshall , Jojo Mayer , Ed Soph , Gary Chaffee and Steve Smith .

From 1998 Jung lives in Dresden <! He currently plays with Dirk Michaelis , the Berlin singer Christiane "Bobo" Hebold ( Bobo In White Wooden Houses ), the Matthias Bätzel Trio, Uschi Brüning and Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky , the Lorenzo Frizzera Trio and Veronika Fischer as well as in various theater productions among others the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and the Staatsoperette Dresden .

Before that, Jung played with artists such as Joey DeFrancesco , Rhoda Scott , Alberto Marsico, Jiggs Whigham , Philipp van Endert , the Thuringia Big Band , the Misha Piatigorsky Trio , Ulla Meinecke , Gustl Mayer , Wolfgang Schlüter , Barbara Dennerlein , the Fanny Krug Band , Wolfgang Köhler , Torsten Goods and Werner Neumann .

Since 2000 he has been teaching drums in the jazz / popular music course at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .
