Heinkel P.1077 was a German project of a rocket-propelled fighter aircraft in the final phase of the Second World War .

development

In 1944, the Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke in Vienna developed the project of a rocket -propelled object protection fighter - the P.1077 Julia - as part of the hunter emergency program . The pilot, who was lying in the cockpit, was supposed to take off with the help of four launching rockets on a launching sled that could also be launched and quickly reach great heights in an almost vertical climb; five minutes of flight time should then be available for combat operations. Landing should be done while gliding on a runner. There was also a project study with a seated pilot and a correspondingly arched pulpit.

By the end of the war only a mock-up of the model had been completed, but it was burned in December 1944 during an Allied bombing raid on Vienna. The construction of two motorless prototypes, which had already started, was stopped at an advanced stage (they were 90% complete).
