The Heinkel He 64 was a civilian German sport aircraft produced by the Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke .
development
It was developed in 1932 for the Third International European Flight , a flight competition in which, among other things, a 7500 km long route was to be completed in the shortest possible time. For this reason, particular emphasis was placed on lightweight construction and optimized aerodynamics. The aircraft was constructed as a cantilever low wing in wood construction. A rigid normal chassis was still used as the chassis. An air-cooled four-cylinder in-line Argus As 8 engine with 150 hp was used as the drive . The pilot and co-pilot were accommodated one behind the other in the closed cabin. In contrast to the expected value of six days, the He 64 only needed three days for the competition flight.
