The Heinkel HE 8 (He.8) was used as a coastal reconnaissance aircraft for the Danish Navy until 1940. It emerged from the HE 5a with an aerodynamically balanced rudder and the back of the fuselage covered with dural sheet metal up to the rear edge of the observer's seat . The supporting structure and the floats were also taken over from the HE 5a.
