Model of a P.1078 B
Model of execution P.1078 B
Type: Fighter plane
Design country:

German Reich NSGerman Reich (Nazi era) German Empire

Manufacturer:

Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke

The project Heinkel P.1078 originated by tendering the OKL 1944 for a single-seat day fighter with Heinkel HeS-011 -Strahltriebwerk, four MK-108 - machine guns h and a required maximum speed of 1000 km /.

The basic version P.1078 A was planned as a conventional aircraft with swept wings. Like almost all designs of that time, this one also had a pressurized cabin with an ejection seat and an optional search radar in the nose. In addition, a P.1078 B with a completely different structure was developed. So this design was designed as a brushless aircraft with a double fuselage bow. The air inlet was in between.

In comparison, both variants were subject to the other drafts. The Junkers EF 128 won the tender .
