Heinrich Dipper (pastor)

Heinrich Gottlob Dipper (born June 2, 1868 in Widdern ; † October 29, 1945 in Stuttgart ) was a German theologian who worked as a Lutheran pastor in Stuttgart and director of the Basel Mission .

Dipper came as the son of the teacher Heinrich Dipper and his wife Dorothea, geb. Leonhardt, to the world and grew up in Stuttgart. Among his siblings were Eugen Dipper , teacher at the mission house of the Basel Mission and pastor at the Martinskirche in Stuttgart, as well as Edmund Dipper , doctor and university professor in Beijing .

He married Klara, born in Stuttgart in 1899. Lechler. The couple had three children, including Heinrich Dipper , who later became an administrative lawyer .

After studying theology in Tübingen , where he also worked as a repetiteur , Dipper became the second parish priest in Marbach . He held this office from 1898 to 1902. He then took on the duties of pastor at the Stuttgart collegiate church until 1910 .

In 1910 he succeeded Friedrich Würz as home inspector of the Basel Mission. In 1913 he was additionally entrusted with the inspection department responsible for China and appointed as deputy director to support the sick director Theodor Oehler . The mission committee elected him in 1915 as the successor to the late director Oehler. In 1926 he resigned as director of the Basel Mission. His successor was Karl Wilhelm Hartenstein . The University of Basel awarded him an honorary doctorate in theology in 1927 .

From 1926 to 1934 Dipper was the first parish priest at the Leonhardskirche in Stuttgart. He then retired.
