Hendek is a county seat and a district in the northwestern Turkish province of Sakarya ; it is on the E80 between Istanbul and Ankara . Hendek has 44,247 and the district 73,815 inhabitants (as of 2010). Geographically, Hendek forms a link between the Marmara region and the Black Sea region . The area consists mostly of plains. In the south and north these are surrounded by mountain ranges. The district is located in the east of the province and borders the provinces of Bolu and Düzce .
