The Sapanca Gölü from the south

Sapanca is a district of the Turkish province of Sakarya and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi (big city commune) Sakarya. The place is about 15 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Adapazarı on the south bank of the lake Sapanca Gölü .

The district is located in the west of the province. It borders Serdivan to the north, Arifiye to the east, Geyve and Pamukova to the south, and Kocaeli province to the west . The European route 80 leads through the village on the south bank of the Sapanca Gölü, coming from Portugal in Turkey from Istanbul via Erzurum to the Iranian border. In the south of the district are the foothills of the Samanlı Dağları mountain range .

The Anatolian Railway from Istanbul - Haydarpaşa to Ankara runs through Sapanca .
