During his studies he completed his military service as a one-year volunteer in 1887 . In 1890 he went on a trip to the Netherlands. In 1894 he returned to Freiburg. From 1896 he ran his own studio in the Freiburg district of Stühlinger . In the 1890s he made further trips, including to Franconia , the Odenwald , the Markgräflerland , Alsace , the Palatinate and through southern Germany. In 1907 he built his "Künstlerhaus" in Hinterzarten , where he organized permanent art exhibitions. He was a member of the board of the “Free Artists' Association Baden”. In 1917 he was awarded the title of professor by Grand Duke Friedrich II , and in 1926 he became an honorary member of the Badische Heimat regional association . Dischler used his own photographs as composition templates, which he projected directly onto the canvas , in order to then convert them into a specific mood in terms of color. Autumn landscapes, March moods, but above all winter snow images, which earned him the name “snow moler”, were his preferred motifs. Due to the consistency of the photographic model and the painterly execution, Dischler's works are of inestimable documentary value in view of the changing cultural landscape.
