Hermann von Schaetzel

Heinrich Ernst Ludwig Hermann von Schaetzel (born August 28, 1814 in Kolberg , † January 6, 1892 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and director of the rifle factory in Spandau .

Life

origin

Hermann was the son of District Administrator Karl von Schaetzel (* 1794) and his wife Julie, née Schick (* around 1790). His mother was an opera singer and his sister Pauline (1811-1882) was a well-known singer.

Military career

After visiting the school to the Gray Monastery and the Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium in Berlin Schaetzel occurred on April 1, 1833 as three-year volunteer in the 12th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian army one. There he was promoted to Portepeefähnrich on October 6, 1833 and transferred to the Kaiser Alexander Grenadier Regiment on January 10, 1835 .
