history
After the Reformation was introduced in 1575 in the county of Saarbrücken , to which today's Köllerbach also belonged, the Martinskirche in Kölln (part of the Köllerbach formed in 1933) was reserved for Protestants. In the course of the French reunion policy in the second half of the 17th century, the area of the County of Saarbrücken came to France as part of the Saar Province. In 1684, by order of the French provincial authorities, St. Martin's Church was made accessible to Catholics again for church services and thus became a simultaneous church . When the population grew rapidly towards the end of the 19th century, the Catholic parish repeatedly complained about the lack of space in the Martinskirche . Therefore, in 1896 it was decided to start building its own Catholic church. The architect Wilhelm Hector ( Saarlouis ) was commissioned to develop the construction plans .
The church was built between 1896 and 1899. After being destroyed in the Second World War , the church was rebuilt in 1948 according to plans by the architect J. Trenz ( Völklingen ). In 1959 the church underwent a restoration . In the 1960s there were renovations, during which an altar island was created. Further restorations were carried out in the 1970s and from 2002 to 2006.
Architecture and equipment
The church building was built in the neo-Gothic style. It is a three-aisled hall church , which is divided into five bays . The church is completed by a choir adjoining the nave with a sacristy extension and a tower with a pointed helmet on the opposite side of the choir room.
In the chancel there are stained glass windows from the time the church was built, made in 1909 by the Glaskunst Binsfeld company ( Trier ), as well as the reredos of the high altar, also from the time the church was built and designed in Gothic form . The substructure and the canteen of the high altar now serve as a celebration altar , while the high altar with a new substructure functions as a sacrament house . The hanging cross above the celebration altar is an Oberammergau wood carving .
In the first yoke of the west facade there is a gallery on which an organ is placed. The gallery can be reached from the nave via spiral stairs winding around columns .
organ
The organ of the church was built in 1976 by Hugo Mayer Orgelbau and has 24 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The disposition is as follows:
