Hess lighTram Hybrid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hess lighTram Hybrid is a four-axle double articulated bus with a serial hybrid drive . The body and chassis are produced by the Swiss company Carrosserie Hess , the drive technology by the German company Vossloh Kiepe . The double articulated hybrid bus with the official type designation BGGH-N2C , also called XXL or Megahybrid , forms with the double articulated trolleybus lighTram Trolley , the articulated trolleybus Swisstrolley , the Duo-Bus NGT 204 F , the hybrid articulated bus Swisshybrid and the diesel bus Swissdiesel and the not yet in series made Solotrolleybus euro Trolley is a family of products.

Technology and design

The demonstration car, built in 2007, is on a special trip on the occasion of the open day at Carrosserie Hess

The two forces acting on the second and third axes electric - traction motors is force-cooled three-phase asynchronous motors , each with 160 kW of power. They are a permanent-magnet 190 kW synchronous generator with Scania - diesel engine as well as the recovery of braking energy fed. The energy gained during braking is stored in double-layer capacitors on the roof of the vehicle. This achieves a reduction in fuel consumption of around 20 to 30 percent compared to a conventional, diesel- powered bus .

The CO-BOLT modular system, patented by Hess, is used for the construction of the body, which today determines the appearance of all vehicles in the Hess product family. With the subsequent introduction of a tram-like front section for the company's trolleybus customers, this equipment option is also possible for the hybrid double articulated bus due to the modular system. For the first time, the three lighTram Hybrids manufactured for Emile Weber in 2014 will have the new tram front.

The car has a total length of 24.691 meters, is 2.55 meters wide and 3.44 meters high and has a minimum inside turning circle of 12 meters, the smallest possible outside turning circle is then 25 meters. The gross vehicle weight is 39.0 tons with a maximum axle load of 11.5 tons. In the equipment variant of the demonstration vehicle, the XXL hybrid bus can accommodate 180 passengers, 59 of whom are seated.

The technical properties of the individual units produced may differ slightly from one another according to the individual customer requirements.

Prototype and test runs

The prototype of the lighTram Hybrid was tested for six weeks from July 18, 2007 at the Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe in regular service. The vehicle was on the ZVB line 6 (Zug - Steinhausen) for around a month. In Germany , the first test run took place between September 21 and 23, 2007 in Tübingen , Baden-Württemberg . Interested parties could take part in demonstration drives between the bus station and Lustnau this weekend.

Test drives with the demonstration vehicle also took place in Lucerne , Düsseldorf , Schaffhausen (in 2007), Jena , Oberhausen , Munich , Dresden (in 2008), Helsinki and St. Gallen (in 2010).

In May 2009, the first two mass-produced lighTrams with hybrid drive were put into operation at the transport company Voyages Emile Weber in Canach, Luxembourg , where they are for use on the Luxembourg bus route 16 ( Hesperingen - Howald - Bonneweg - Bahnhof - Zentrum - Kirchberg - Airport ) Verkehrsbetriebe AVL are provided. The Hess demonstration vehicle built in 2007 was also handed over to Emile Weber in 2010.

Between April and June 2008 the type was also compared in Hamburg with the conventional double articulated buses of the VanHool AGG 300 type . Since June 2012, two buses have been tried out as possible successors to the VanHool buses in Hamburg in a long-term test. The main area of application is the busy Metrobus line 5 ( main station - Rathausmarkt - Dammtor station - Hoheluftbrücke - U Niendorf Markt - A Burgwedel ).

In 2014 three units were delivered to the company Qbuzz in Groningen , the Netherlands , where they will be used on line 11 ( Hoofdstation - Grote Markt - Station Noord - Zernike P + R - Zuidhorn ). Three more Hess double articulated hybrid buses will also go to Voyages Emile Weber in Luxembourg, where the largest fleet of Hess lighTram Hybrids will be in use after delivery with six cars.
