Hilgenroth is one of the smaller districts of the municipality of Heidenrod in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse , with around 140 inhabitants .

history

"Hildegerod" was first mentioned around 1200 without citing a source by Meinhard Sponheimer in his historical local dictionary. Around 1260 "Hildegerode" was first mentioned in writing in the deed of division of Count Diether and Eberhard von Katzenelnbogen .

On January 1, 1977, was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse , the municipality Heidenrod until then independent municipality Hilgenroth powerful state law in the five years newly formed previously incorporated . For Hilgenroth, as for all other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.

The village community is supported by "Die Gollemmer, - Friends of Hilgenroths eV" promoted. In and at the “Old Town Hall” people meet regularly for morning pints and street parties.
