In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Algenroth merged with 15 other municipalities on December 31, 1971 on a voluntary basis to form the municipality of Heidenrod . On July 1, 1972, Martenroth also came voluntarily. For Martenroth, as for all other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.
Culture and sights
The landmark of Martenroth in the center of the village at the central street crossing is a listed, single-storey building from the late 19th century with a roof turret and wooden gate, a combination of a bakery and a fire station , as used to be common as a multi-purpose community building in small villages. As the smallest district of Heidenrod, Martenroth has its own village community center .
