Springen is a district of the municipality of Heidenrod in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse .

geography

Springen is located on a ridge in the northeastern Wispertaunus high above the Wispertal in the west, the Dornbach in the south and the Dornbach II in the east. The place is surrounded by extensive agricultural areas, which are framed by partly steeply sloping wooded valley slopes. The ridge has a connection to the Kemeler Heide in the northeast .

The spatial proximity to the local recreation areas Rheingau and Middle Rhine , to the Loreley , as well as to the Aar and Lahntal on the one hand and to the economically strong Rhine-Main area on the other hand contribute significantly to the residential quality of the district.

Jumping is at an altitude of 440 meters.

history

In 1107, jumping was first mentioned in a document as a triple jump . Triple jump means something like place of the three springs .

In addition to agriculture, wool weaving was an important industry in the Middle Ages . The trade in Dreispringer cloths is documented in Augsburg for the year 1555. This highly developed craft was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War.

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Springen merged with 15 other municipalities on December 31, 1971 on a voluntary basis to form the municipality of Heidenrod . For jumping, as for all other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.

Culture and sights

The listed Protestant Church of St. Odile stands in the village . It is essentially a medieval former fortified church from the 12th / 13th centuries, which has been rebuilt several times.

Economy and Infrastructure

tourism

The Wispertaunus , in which Springen is located, is one of the most densely forested parts of the Taunus and has largely been designated as an FFH area. In addition, the region is part of the Rhein-Taunus Nature Park , which aims to enable people to relax in a natural environment.

traffic

Over the ridge on which Springen is located, the L 3455 runs in a north-south direction, which leads north past a junction to the neighboring town of Wisper to the Kemel district, three kilometers away , where there is a connection to the federal road 260 , via which one can north to the road to Laufenselden , the central district of Heidenrod. In a southerly direction one reaches the district town Bad Schwalbach , as well as Wiesbaden and the Rhine-Main area on the federal road .

To the south, the L 3455 leads down to the lower Dornbach II and on to the Wispertalstraße , which, first at the Dornbach , a left tributary of the Wisper , leads down into the valley to the west via Geroldstein towards Lorch .
