Hilmer Sattler Architects Ahlers Albrecht
Hilmer Sattler Architekten Ahlers Albrecht is a German architecture firm with offices in Munich (since 1974) and Berlin (since 1988). The Munich office operates under Hilmer Sattler Architects Ahlers Albrecht , the Berlin office under Hilmer & Sattler and Albrecht .
history
In 1974 the office was founded by the architects Heinz Hilmer (* 1936) and Christoph Sattler (* 1938). The latter is a great-grandson of the sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand . In 1997 the name of the office was changed to Hilmer & Sattler und Albrecht GmbH, as the architect Thomas Albrecht (* 1960), a nephew of Christoph Sattler, had joined as a third partner. Rita has been with Ahlers since 2009 and Peter Solhdju has been a partner at Hilmer Sattler Architekten Ahlers Albrecht since 2017.
The focus of the activity is in the new building and the conservation practice renovation of museums, hotels, retail and office construction, but also in residential construction. The office also takes part in competitions, such as in 1991 for the overall planning of Potsdamer Platz .
architecture
The urban planning as well as the individual buildings of the office are characterized by a strong focus on the character of the classic European city. Most of the time, emphasis is placed on integrating new buildings into the built environment. If there is practically no such thing, as was the case in the area around Potsdamer Platz in 1990, care is taken to ensure that the new buildings refer to each other instead of just being a juxtaposition of solitary buildings . When it comes to residential construction, there are repeated references in the office's buildings to settlement architecture of the 1920s, such as the Hufeisensiedlung in Berlin.
