“Even if we have come a long way.
We go higher and higher.
No matter how high the hurdles are.
You look so much smaller from up here.
If you run out of air, just don't look down.
We go higher and higher.
Always, always higher up. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

The lyrics to Hoch are written in German . The music was composed jointly by Timothy Auld, Tim Bendzko, Toni Mudrack (Teesy), Benedikt Schöller and Julian von Dohnanyi, the text was written by Bendzko, Teesy and von Dohnanyi. Musically, the song moves in the area of pop music . The tempo is 153 beats per minute . The key is G major . Bendzko himself described Hoch as a "pure" motivational song . While writing, he simply imagined that someone was about to fulfill a big dream, to achieve a big goal, but shortly before the end is about to give up. The song should motivate you to walk these last meters. At the same time, he demonstrated that it is by no means about always wanting more.

The song is based on two verses, a chorus and a bridge . The song begins with the first verse followed by the chorus. The same process is repeated with the second stanza. The second chorus is followed by a short bridge of parts of the chorus, before the song ends with the third chorus.
