Completed sections

  • The subway ring line (also line 0) has been in operation since December 28, 2018 on a 17-station section between Haixia Street (海峡 路) and the central city library (重庆 图书馆).
  • Line 1 is a subway line that runs from Cháotiānmén (朝天門) station in the east of the city center via Shāpíngbà (沙坪壩) and the university town (大学 城) to the Jiandingpo (尖顶 坡) terminal in the west of the city. The route, which runs completely underground, has 24 stations on a 37.1 km route. • Line 2 is a monorail, the first section of which opened in January 2005 . It runs from the Jiàochǎngkǒu (较 场 口) station in the center of the city to the zoo in the southwest of Chongqing. It was also the first section of the entire network. On July 1, 2006, the extension beyond the old zoo terminus into the Xīnshāncūn (新 山村) industrial area in the Dàdùkǒu district (大 渡口) and on December 31, 2014 by a 6.2 km long section to the provisional terminus Yúdòng (渝 洞) in the Bānán district on the right bank of the Yangtze, where it meets the already completed line 3. The system thus has 25 stations on a route length of 25.7 kilometers. Four -part railcars from the Japanese manufacturer Hitachi Transportation Systems are used as vehicles on the route, which is largely elevated on viaducts . The Liziba station (李子 坝), which was built in a residential building, gained a certain international fame.
  • Line 3 is also a monorail like line 2, but is equipped with newer rolling stock. Its first section from the Yuānyāng (鴛鴦) station in the Jiāngběi district via the North Railway Station to the Liǎnglùkǒu (两 路口) station in the central Yúzhōng district was opened on September 27, 2011. On December 30, 2011, two extensions went into operation: South to the Èrtáng (二 塘) station not far from Jiāotōng University in the south of the city (Nán'àn district) and north to Chongqing-Jiangbei Airport . On December 28, 2012 there was an extension in the south to the Yúdòng (鱼洞) station and on December 28, 2018, a branch line from Bìjīn (碧 津) to Jǔrénbà (举人 坝) was opened.
