Hugo von Block

Hugo von Block (born July 28, 1818 in Berlin , † July 10, 1897 in Herischdorf ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Hugo was the son of the Prussian Lieutenant General Karl Heinrich Stephan von Block (1781-1839) and his wife Karoline, born von Ahlimb (1781-1823).

Military career

During the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War , Block was entrusted with the command of the reserve battalion of the 1st Guard Infantry Brigade in June / July 1859 . As a lieutenant colonel he took part in the battle of Königgrätz during the war against Austria in 1866 and received the Order of the Crown III on September 20, 1866 . Class with swords.

After the peace treaty , Block was transferred to Göttingen on October 13, 1866 as commander of the 7th Westphalian Infantry Regiment and promoted to colonel in this position at the end of the month .
