Hurst is a city in Tarrant County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located north of Fort Worth in northeast Texas, is about 85 km to the north from Oklahoma and has a total area of 25.6 km² without any significant water surface.
history
The city was named after William L. Hurst , a settler from Indiana who settled here after the American Civil War and donated the land.

According to the census in 2000 , 36,273 people lived here in 14,076 households and 10,261 families. The population density was 1,414.7 inhabitants per km². The racial the population was composed of 85.98% White, 4.13% African American, 0.64% Native American, 1.83% Asian, 0.29% Pacific Islander, and 5.20% other ethnic groups. About 1.93% were mixed race and 11.02% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 14,076 households, 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 57.2% of these were married couples living together. 11.6% were single mothers and 27.1% were non-families. 22.4% of all households were single households and there were people living in 7.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.99 people.
25.5% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.3% 18 to 24, 30.3% 25 to 44, 23.6% 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 94.6 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 91.2 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 50,369 , and the median income for a family is $ 57,955. Males had a median income of $ 40,734 versus $ 29,551 for females. The per capita income was $ 23,247. 6.6% of the population and 4.5% of families are below the poverty line. Of these, 10.4% were children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 3.7% were 65 or older.
