content

The song is a rap ballad and dedicated to the American rapper The Notorious BIG (Biggie) who was shot on March 9, 1997 . In the intro, Puff Daddy says that he still can't believe The Notorious BIG was killed. He felt empty, found it difficult to get on with his life and would give anything to see him again. The song is supposed to give strength to everyone who has lost a loved one. In the first verse, Puff Daddy remembers how both of them wowed audiences with their performances and what they had achieved. He must now continue to realize her dream alone and hope that Biggie will keep a place free for him in heaven where he lives his life after death. Faith Evans sings in the chorus that she thinks of Biggie every day and in everything she does. If she remembers the day he died, it breaks her heart. In the second verse, Puff Daddy raps that he prays every day for Biggie who looks down on him from heaven. Until they meet again, he will keep it in his heart and draw strength from the memories. The outro is sung by group 112 and the content is based on the chorus.

production

The instrumental of the song was of Puff Daddy in collaboration with Stevie J produced. The main melody was taken from the song Every Breath You Take by the English new wave band The Police . Puff Daddy did not write the lyrics of the song himself, but rather Todd Gaither, also known as Sauce Money, acted as a ghostwriter . In the album version, a choir sings the piece Agnus Dei by the American composer Samuel Barber at the beginning .
