IC 2143 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Rabbit in the southern sky . It is an estimated 129 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter. Together with four other galaxies, it forms the IC 438 group or LGG 134 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on October 7, 1897 .
