IC 3422 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E0 in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is around a billion light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 160,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 3392 , IC 3409 , IC 3419 , IC 3453 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
