IC 3418 is an irregular galaxy of Hubble type IBm in the constellation Virgo the northern sky . It is estimated to be 17 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 1,000 ly. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 1217 .
The galaxies NGC 4491 , IC 3413 , IC 3431 , IC 3437 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
