IC 3431 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Virgo the northern sky . It is estimated to be 784 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 95,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky are the galaxies NGC 4491 , IC 3418 , IC 3437 , IC 3446 .

The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
