IC 3714 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 402 million light years from the Milky Way and 95,000 light years across. It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1997 , but it is too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3686 , IC 3690 , IC 3724 , IC 3732 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
