IC 4258 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E3 in the constellation Canes Venatici on the northern sky . It is an estimated 497 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter.
The Type Ia supernova SN 2003an was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 2, 1896 .
